AMR Architects, Inc. was founded in 1982 with a central purpose in mind: To create buildings that enhance environment and work for owners and occupants, while also providing joy in their everyday use. In the time since, our work has proven that creative, innovative architecture can accomplish these ends. AMR has received numerous design awards in over three decades of work.

Several characteristics distinguish our work, and our way of working:

First, we listen.

Architecture is meant to solve problems and achieve goals. We listen carefully to our clients and create design solutions that meet their specific needs.

Second, size.

We have managed our growth to become large enough to handle sizable projects, small enough to maintain the high level of personal service and principal involvement our clients expect. We provide planning, architectural design, interior design, and feasibility studies. In addition, we draw on a talented pool of consultants with whom we have established working relationships, creating a team uniquely suited to the demands of the specific project.

Third, versatility.

We have proven our capabilities in a wide range of projects that include the following: university learning & research environments, university libraries, public libraries, museums, community centers, banking and corporate headquarters, university student housing, retail showrooms, restaurants, and private homes. These projects include new construction, renovation, and interior design.

Finally, teamwork.

Working together, our staff of 8 combines individual strengths and talents to bring the highest quality results to every project.

Where We Thrive

While we work in multiple areas our concentration,  since 1982, it has been on college campuses and urban centers. They are really very similar; campuses resemble small cities with a pedestrian atmosphere offering multiple services. Like building a city to attract residents we approach building college campuses to attract students and faculty. We have been working for over three decades to revitalize the River Market District in Downtown Little Rock and for two decades planned and executed a master plan for Arkansas Tech that helped their campus double in size. We touched every style of building from lab,  to library, to cafeteria. We renovated, built new, and tackled difficult parking issues. Our experience is considerable, and our dedication to addressing the client’s specific needs is unique.

The team at AMR believes the interiors of a space are an integral part of the entire building. Our NCIDQ certified designers are involved in each project from inception to completion and assist with space planning, material selections, furniture specification, signage, artwork and much more. The designers and architects work closely together to ensure your project’s interior and exterior are cohesive and well coordinated. The interior design team has completed higher education, commercial, hospitality, residential, healthcare and mixed use projects and can offer a wide breadth of knowledge that covers projects from small renovations to large scale public buildings.
